Oviss is led by Cal Tate and Matt Haywood. Every home is acquired, designed and built by the same small team, so the standard you see on day one is the standard you live with for years.
How we work
One team the whole way, which is the only way we have found to keep a promise about quality.

We look for sites in Northcote, Alphington and the inner north with the character, aspect and light a genuinely good home needs. Most of what makes a house great is decided here.

We work with some of Melbourne's most thoughtful architects and interior designers, and we stay in the room for every decision, down to the last tap and threshold.

Cal is the registered builder, and every Oviss home is built in house. Nothing is handed off, and the work you will never see is done to the same standard as the work you will.
The founders
Co-founder and Director, Construction & Strategy
Cal leads construction, site operations, brand and strategy. He's also the voice behind Built Before Us, our series on the houses that shaped the inner north.
Co-Founder & Director of Acquisitions
Matt leads acquisitions, estimating, procurement and finance. If an Oviss home sits on the right site at the right number, that's usually his doing.
